Our Rooms
Our spacious nursery has a homely atmosphere and is set over 2 floors. The rooms are light and airy and provide a calm and engaging environment for your child. To ensure the safety of children, staff, parents/carers and visitors to the setting, all rooms are fitted with CCTV, whilst being mindful of your child's privacy. We comply with the Information Commissioners CCTV Code of Practice to ensure the system is used responsibly.
Baby Room
3 months to 24 months
Our Baby Room is split into two areas. One for younger babies who can't walk and another for older ones who have just found their feet! We have a separate cosy sleeping room and our own area in the garden to explore. We can care for up to 18 babies from three months to approximately two years old with a staff ratio of 1:3. All babies have a Key Person to work with parents to ensure we mirror home routines. Using equipment to stimulate and encourage their development, we will provide a range of activities to allow babies to experiment and explore through a variety of play and sensory experiences. A full record of nappy changes, feeds, sleeps and activities will all be recorded via Blossom and can be accessed on your parent app.
Toddler Room
2 to 3 years old
When children are ready they will move up to our Toddler Room. This is usually around 23 to 24 months and they will have time 'settling in' before they move up properly. In this room, we can accommodate up to 20 children. The room is divided into areas for messy play, role play, small world, cosy reading area, etc and we have a separate room for children who still like to have a sleep in the day. The children have access to our lovely garden where we like to spend as much time as possible and our team plan daily activities using age appropriate toys and resources to encourage the children's learning and independence. Your child will continue to have a Key Person who will share information with you about their daily activities and observations will be made on our online learning journey (further details below).
Pre-School Room
3 to 5 years old
Our Pre-school room has been designed to be a stimulating learning environment to encourage school readiness and we have space for 32 children. Pre-school children still have a nominated Key Person and their day will be more structured with activities to adhere to the statutory guidelines outlined in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). This will include prime areas such as personal, social and emotional development, physical development and communication and language as well as specific areas of literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive arts and design.
All rooms within the nursery use a new innovative method of recording information for children’s 'Learning Journeys'. Using tablets, the practitioners will be able to take photographs and videos of daily activities, along with observations and information regarding the child’s development and upload them instantly to our new parent app, Blossom.
Garden
We're fortunate to be in a lovely countryside setting with large gardens which are a great outdoor learning environment for children to explore.
The gardens play an important part of daily life in the nursery and are an extension of our indoor rooms. All children access the gardens at least twice daily and our Pre-school Room allows for free-flow access encouraging their independence. Children can make dens, investigate bugs in our ‘bug hotel’, play with textures and ingredients in our mud kitchen, climb trees or move and transport soil and stones in our construction site! We often go out for walks to explore the footpaths around the nursery where we can visit all sorts of amazing animals in the local fields and of course, enjoy Nowton Park which is on our doorstep.
