At Little Larks our aim is to ensure that all aspects of food and nutrition in the Nursery & Pre-School promote the health and well-being of children, families, staff and visitors.
Early years settings provide an ideal opportunity to encourage young children to eat well and learn about food. This not only helps protect their health while they are young, but also sets the foundations for their future health and well-being.
We are a nut free setting and we will ensure that the dietary needs of all our children are met. Any children with allergies or different food preferences are given a meal as similar as possible to the menu.
Our kitchen has a 5* food hygiene rating and all food is made fresh within the nursery everyday. We provide a weaning menu for babies and will gradually introduce them to our main menu when they are ready to move on from weaning stages one and two.
Meal times at our nursery are happy and relaxed. We regularly involve the children with helping to prepare meals, laying the table and serving their own food. Staff eat with the children and this helps to encourage social skills, good manners and hygiene.
We often review and change our menu's to ensure they are seasonal and varied and have attached some examples below.
